Just Eggs - Einfach Eier

I still love eggs as decoration for Easter. The black ones are just coloured with ink and afterwards I scraped the colour off. I often use illustrated natural history books as inspiration.

I destroyed more than ten eggs, just to make this one.

Ich habe bestimmt mehr als zehn Eier kaputt gemacht, nur um dieses eine zu machen.

Eier als Osterdekoration finde ich einfach immer noch schön. Die schwarzen Eier sind mit Tinte gefärbt, anschliessend wird diese einfach wieder weggekratzt. Illustrierte Naturkundebücher sind eine gute Inspirationsquelle.

Traditional Swiss egg: Put herbs on the egg, wrap it into panty hose and cook it in onion skins.

Das Autogramm ist von John Howe, einem der bedeutendsten Illustratoren der Werke Tolkiens. Vor ein paar Jahren bin ich ihm auf einer Veranstaltung begegnet. Seine Illustrationen sind unglaublich, er selbst aber ganz bescheiden.

Some years ago, this autograph was given to me from John Howe. He is best known for illustrating Tolkien's work. His illustrations are incredible, but he himself was a very modest person.

Arbre d'amitié

Pour faire cet arbre d'amitié j'ai d'abord modeler la forme avec du fil de fer. Ensuite j'ai collé du papier. Les pommes sont aussi modelées de papier et coloriées après. Un bout de fil de broderie et voilà: il n'est pas parfait, mais je l'aime quand même.

Für dieses "Freundschaftsbäumchen" habe ich zunächst einen Aufbau aus Draht gemacht. Diesen habe ich anschliessend mit Zeitungspapier beklebt. Auch die Äpfel habe ich aus Zeitungspapier geformt und anschliessend ein wenig koloriert. Ein bisschen Stickgarn, das war's. Nicht perfekt, aber ich mag es trotzdem.

To create this little friendship tree, I started with a wire model, on which I glued newspaper stripes. The apples are also made of newspaper and were coloured afterwards. Some bits of embroidery yarn, that's it, not perfect, but I like it, nevertheless.

There are still some of these old woven pillow cases in my wardrobe. As I weaver I really do like their texture, but I also love these old buttons, covered with fabric.

I stitched an old lace onto it and embroidered the German words: Dies ist eine Herzensangelegenheit, which means "This is a matter of the heart" in English. And I added some crocheted hearts.

Zum Glück habe ich immer noch einige dieser alten gewobenen Kopfkissenbezüge im Schrank. Als Weberin mag ich diese Strukturen, aber auch diese alten stoffbezogenen Knöpfe.

Ein Stück alte Spitze, die gestickten Worte "Dies ist eine Herzensangelegenheit" und ein paar selbst gehäkelte Herzen.....

Advent Calendar

Two hearts crocheted together, a little piece of vichy fabric, embroidered with numbers from 1 to 24.  Ready is my advent calendar, filled with tiny treasures. And off they go, to hopefully please two dear friends.

Zwei zusammen gehäkelte Herzen, ein Stück Vichykaro, bestickt mit Nummern von 1 bis 24. Fertig ist mein Adventskalender, gefüllt mit kleinen Schätzen. Und ab die Post damit.
